I went to a fundraiser last night in support of my friend who has created one of the most amazing non-profits. It is called Hot Water Rescue. "Hot Water Rescue focuses on the rescue of the Molosser breeds that we consider to be at most risk of overpopulation, abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The breeds that we feel most fit that category are as follows: Rottweilers, Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldogs, Cane Corso Mastiffs, Dogo (Presa) Canario's, Dogo Argentino's, and Bandogges. We never take or refuse a dog based upon age, health condition or gender as we are firm believers in rescuing without prejudice." http://www.hotwaterrescue.com/AMAZING! Last night they were able to raise over $3000 for this wonderful organizaton. Current Location: home Current Mood: cheerful

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/09/nyregion/09campaign.html?ex=1155268800&en=477e3370bccf0077&ei=5087%0APretty amazing stuff! Although I will admit I am a registered Independant. How can I be an Independant you may ask? Well it is simple, and there are many reasons. First off I don't understand politics all that much, nor will I pretend that I do. I think all our leaders do the best job they can with the information that is available to them- and yes I also think they DO know more about some things in this world than we do. Some things are just not meant to be shared with the public. Secondly, I don't like being harassed for my vote. I don't need people calling, mailing, and my door being knocked in to get me to vote. Which reminds me. Oh Joe, yes you Sen Leiberman...how in the heck did you get my telephone number?? I have enough confidence in the people to choose who they fell best represents their party..I feel I want to chose who I feel best represents ME out of those choices. Thirdly, I have many friends and contacts who work in our State Capital- some as Lobbyists- one being the current Governor's son, some as laywers and others as Senators. I like to stay neutral and not take sides b/c to me that is like pinning one friend agaist the other and therefore I always split my ticket based on what I feel is best for me. Lastly, my husband's job as a Project Manager makes it absolutely crucial we have no party affiliation or loyalty. Keeping you nose clean is the secret to longevity. Just look up the Manafort Contruction Company, LLC and you'll see how much trouble that can get you in. Stupid John Rowland- the guy got sloppy, made some bad choices and now his career is ruined. That guy prolly could have been President some day. Current Location: home Current Mood: hopeful Current Music: Changes; David Bowie

So yes we went to a Martini Party on Saturday night..think I mentioned that. Great fun and yummy drinks. There was Mango, Cranberry, Apple, Watermelon and Espresso. Watermelon and Espresso were my favorites! Yummy nibbles were brought too.. guacamole, a couple of dips with the marbled bread, cheese and meat platter and I brought Marguarite Kabobs. They are easy and yummy.. plus they look pretty. Basically grape tomatoes, mozzarella balls, chopped fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt, pepper, crushed garlic to taste. Mix it all up in a bowl and them make lil kabobs out of them. I also put a small bowl of imported olives on the side. We also played a fun game.. "Shout at the Movies". Wives vs. Husbands of course...and yes.. the wives prevailed 47-0. I will admit it took a bit for us Wives to get our game on..but we did and had a come from behind win.
